I am newly single, but not by choice… My wife of 25 yrs had a mid-life crisis and left me and the kids. Mental health...is difficult.

I spend all of my non-working time devoted to the kids since three of them are still school-age, and the others just recently graduated. My kids are lucky to have me and they know it. We share a strong bond.

I have a career that I really love. I’ve been an Information/Communication Systems professional for 30 years. I currently leverage my skill set for a global Ag company and have over 20 years on the job. So ya I’m a huge nerd. Both figurative and literal (LOL). In the past, I've owned and operated my own consulting business, owned and operated restaurants, and owned and operated a General Store. Unfortunately, I had to move to central Illinois in 2018 to keep the job I need to finish raising my kids. Job security trumped geography.

I consider Idaho home. I miss the West terribly. Between work and kids, I actually don’t do anything for myself (unless it is with at least one of the kids) and I don’t have any local friends, in the true sense. I socialize a little bit at work and love the people that I work with but we’re not "friends" outside of work. I also go to church and provide service there and help many people that I adore but ultimately don’t socialize outside of church either. I’m pretty much out of my depth in most social settings. I always have something to say but rarely open my mouth as my introvertness has a firm grip on me. Ask and ye shall receive is my policy but never assume anyone wants to hear my thoughts. I'm a rational and logical thinker. I have deep emotions but do not wear them on my sleeve.

I have never had occasion for sites like this. All of that came into existence after I was already married, so it feels weird to be...in the market? I have no idea what I’m looking for anyway. It at least gives me something to do while I’m lying here with insomnia.

Despite my circumstances, I always tend to be optimistic and hopeful about everything and despite the pain my current circumstance causes, I realize that time heals all wounds and thought while I’m starting to heal, I will see how laughable my chances might be on a site to make any kind of connection.

A few more buzzwords that I would associate with me for a “snapshot”, would include: intelligent, loyal, and stable. I am a bit of an ogre on the outside, but I would pit my commitment, understanding, and romance skill against anybody. I know who I am and I like me. I’m kind, generous and thoughtful. I’m pretty straight-laced and would be accused of being a rule follower. I only know the truth and have no interest in deception.

I suppose when I have any free time that I don't sacrifice for the family, I could be found flyfishing, shooting, or playing console, card/board, and trivia games. I watch sci-fi, crime dramas, documentaries. I love to learn and consume a lot of STEM-related channel content. My music interests are widely varied and range between Heavy Metal, Rock, Jazz, Bluegrass, Oldies, Classic Country, and limited pop. I've moved a lot over my life both while a kid at home as well through my adult life. I've lived in ID, AZ, NV, UT, TX, NM, KS, MO, IL, MI, and FL. I've Traveled extensively across the US in-between. Spent some time in Mexico, Canada, and the Bahamas. As a young man, I lived in Southern Germany for 2 years serving a mission for my church.
