I Would Describe Myself As
I am looking for someone who takes a relationship/marriage as seriously as he takes his job/career. (Successful careers involve meetings and communication, do to lists, scheduling, budgeting, etc.);
Who understands that a relationship is a team, and that each person is entitled to prayerfully seeking an answer before a big decision is made--and that decisions are made together before acting upon a decision;
Who knows that we are both not perfect; nevertheless, we are both always striving to improve ourselves, and we are both interested in helping each other improve;
Who understands that balance in all things is wisdom, avoiding extremes, and considers balance in how to apply what the church teaches, and is thoughtful and prayerful before obeying, and willing to counsel with others if needed (with your significant other first, of course).
I would prefer someone who has a basic understanding of psychology. It would be great if he were familiar with Dr. Jordan Peterson's school of thought at a basic level.
I do like doing things spontaneously, but I have found that routines and scheduling are important for priorities to be pursued. Routine scripture study and scheduled dates, for example, I feel are very important. Once a relationship is established, I feel that talking daily is important and that weekly dates is vital, and the logistics of making that happen can be challenging, but I think it's worth it.
I know that work is important. But I feel that the daily upkeep of a relationship is important too, no matter how busy life is. It's all a balancing act. It is not easy, but it is rewarding. I strongly believe that.
My strategy in life is: Plan ahead, then live as much in each moment as possible.
I have bad days, like everyone, and I know you do too. I'm not perfect, and I don't expect perfection of you. But I would like to be with someone who feels Christ's mercy in the act of trying, who forgives himself for mistakes and repents (strives to improve and understands that improvement takes time), who forgives me when I make mistakes (and understands that it takes time for me to improve) and who appreciates my efforts to try.
I have two kids, and I'm pretty protective of them. I strive to balance my time with my kids, a job, and my dating relationship, as each are important.
I like a balance of fun and serious, if possible. Life is hard--if not for us, then for others whom we can help, and there is value in trying to be creative and make it fun, when we can.
Also: I can be talkative, but I'm an introvert. I'm a problem solver, so if you mention a problem, I will try to solve it with you and offer ideas. If you feel challenged by a woman's advice/counsel, I'm not your lady.
Also: I believe in the church, but my divorce 4 years ago and the way my husband lived as a member of the church has left me kind of wondering about some things. I'm on a journey to learn and figure it all out.
My dealbreakers are: you involve yourself with pornography or strip clubs or anything of the sort, or you think it's okay to maintain close or playful friendships with women (outside of family) when you're dating or married. It's not negotiable to me that physical intimacy stays within the dating relationship/marriage, and that emotional intimacy stays within the dating relationship/marriage.
