My Goal In Life Is

My goal is to live in the Spirit daily. The Law of Attraction has played a big role in my life. I’ve discovered that whatever I think about multiplies: if I think about what’s wrong or what’s missing, I get more of that, so I’ve learned to focus on what I WANT instead. I just don’t think about the negative stuff anymore. My default mode is cheerfulness and optimism—I’m a “glass half full” kind of woman. I’ve also learned to ask better questions. Instead of asking “Why me?” I’ve learned to ask “What can I learn from this experience?” And finally, I’ve learned to discern and follow promptings of the Spirit and have come to really know that whatever I ask in faith comes to me. These principles, coupled with hard work, have allowed me to enjoy a wonderful life of high achievement and many growth experiences. Through my experiences, I’ve learned patience, empathy, compassion, good communication and relationship skills, how to cope with death and loss, and how to raise sweet, friendly cats. (And I thought I was strictly a “dog person!”) I’m probably one of the most emotionally resilient and healthy people you’ll come to know.

I’ve really enjoyed the independence and autonomy of single-living, and have loved the option of being able to sleep diagonally across my large bed. But I feel it's time to open my heart and closets and let someone in besides my pets. I’m sad about not having children of my own, so I’m looking forward to sharing the children and grandchildren of the man I love.

My Idea Of Fun Is

Currently, I’m semi-retired and work a bit as opportunity arises. I’m not rolling in the dough, but I live modestly within my means, have sufficient for my needs, and everything that I need flows to me abundantly. So I like to spend time at the gym and do weights, exercise bike, and water aerobics, and hanging out in the sauna with the other retirees. (The steam room is my favorite, and it’s really great for my complexion!) I also spend a great deal of time doing Family History work, and am one of my ward’s Family History consultants. My favorite thing to do is to find and attach records to folks, and thus find and complete their family groups and prepare them for temple work. (It’s actually kind of addictive, so I joke that I have “Attachment Disorder!” Ha, ha!) I also enjoy reading, studying the scriptures, attending the temple, and listening to books on CD from the library. I love discussing ideas, and I also have a tendency to make “insightful” and funny comments while watching movies, much like the format of “Mystery Science Theater 2000.” I especially enjoy Fantasy and Sci-Fi, (Orson Scott Card, Star Trek, Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis being some favorites), enjoy dramedies (like Monk and Drop Dead Diva) and action comedies (like Jackie Chan movies) and have discovered the subtle joys of British TV. I suppose one of my passions is finding a way to put correct principles into practice.

My goal has always been not just to be married, but to be married happily. To that end, I’ve worked on my own character for the past few decades in order to become the same kind of person I would want in a mate— kind, patient, self-disciplined, competent, fiscally responsible, emotionally healthy, with good communication and conflict resolution skills, and one who leads with Righteous *****ion. I think I’ve got it down now. I think I’m now ready to open my heart.
